Inspirations and Connections
I have many artistic inspirations and connections that influence my art. They can come in the shape of artists, artistic movements, or just things that interest me. A few of my personal inspirations are nature, animals, the ocean, history, music and sports like fencing. My at is also connected to and inspired by the artistic movements impressionism and post-impressionism. I love the less realistic style with the bold brushstrokes and I use it in quite a few of my paintings.
Here are a few of the Artists who inspire and connect to me:

Raphaël Thibault
Gobeil
Raphael Thibault Gobeil is a Canadian artist from Quebec. He is a photographer who uses brightly coloured paints on his photos to highlight the contrasts in the images. I was inspired by his technique of painting on photography and used this technique in many of my artworks, like my Visual Voices History Artwork.

Victor Figol
Victor Figol is a Ukrainian artist best known for his colourful, impressionistic paintings. He connects to my artwork because we both have interests in similar subject matter of people with umbrellas walking at night. I was insprired by his impressionistic style and tried to use his style in my oil painting in the Visual Voices Exhibition.

Andy Beck
Andy Beck is a painter who lives in the UK. He often does portraits of people without expressions staring at something out of view. This subject matter helped inspire my drawing for the Visual Voices Drawing Artwork because it can represent hidden feelings and emotions.

Jim Kay
Jim Kay is an illustrator from the Uk. He does a variety of illustrations for different books and projects. I am most inspired by his ink and pen images because of their strong contrasting darks and lights. I feel like these images connect to my theme of the unknown and mystery as well.
